Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) responded to a robbery in progress at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 19 in the 5600 block of Doubs Road in Adamstown, officials reported.
As deputies arrived, gunshots rang out from inside the home, setting off a chain of events that kept law enforcement busy for hours.
Two residents of the home were found in their vehicle in the driveway and reported being held at gunpoint inside their residence.
The armed suspects allegedly demanded drugs and money during the robbery before fleeing, officials said.
Deputies quickly established a perimeter, and a K-9 unit began tracking the suspects, according to the sheriff's office, with two taken into custody, one of whom suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The investigation expanded when deputies discovered two additional suspects in vehicles at a nearby gas station.
One suspect was detained without incident; however, the driver of the second vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit that led into Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) joined the chase, which ended in DC, when the suspect abandoned the vehicle.
The driver remains at large.
The victims declined medical treatment at the scene, officials said.
Among those arrested was 31-year-old District resident Darius Jones.
He is facing multiple charges that include:
- Armed robbery;
- Firearm use by a felon during the commission of a violent crime;
- Illegal possession of a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm during a violent crime with a felony conviction;
- Illegal possession of ammo.
He is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
